The Palais Hansen Kempinski has finally opened after two years of renovations. The heritage-listed property, originally built as a hotel for the World Exhibition in 1873 but later abandoned, is home to 152 rooms and suites, two restaurants, two bars and the city’s largest cigar lounge.
Architect Boris Podrecca and designer Jean-Claude Laville have managed to keep much of the grandeur intact, with Roman columns and glitzy chandeliers littered throughout the hotel. Visitors can expect to be treated like royalty, from sipping on a Verlangerter and gorging on Austrian cheeses at Die Kuche to soaking up steam at the swanky Kempinski The Spa.
