Steinway Gallery Singapore and Montblanc announce their collaboration with the global launch of Montblanc’s Patron of Art Edition Henry E. Steinway. An exclusive preview of the limited edition pen was presented on 29 May 2014 at Montblanc Mandarin Gallery with Steinway Artist and singer-composer Dick Lee as the Guest Artist.
Founder of Steinway & Sons, one of the world’s leading piano manufacturers, Henry E. Steinway has lived a life dedicated to making high quality pianos. His legacy lives on till today, with 90 % of the pool of professional pianists only using Steinway pianos. It is of little surprise then that Montbanc has styled their 2014 Patron of Art collection after the German and his company.
The Henry E. Steinway collection is designed with the Steinway pianos’ features and is set for many musicians to compose their brilliance with.
Apart from great drinks and canapes, guests were also treated to a host of performances on a Steinway piano in the center of the shop, with young Steinway pianists spontaneously composing songs according to the crowd’s liking. The highlight of the night would have to be Dick Lee’s enthused performance of three songs on the piano including the iconic Home and Fried Rice Paradise during the event.
During the event, Lee, said, “The way both writing and musical instruments came together during this event was executed beautifully. I am honoured to witness the creation of musical harmony by our young local talents who skilfully wrote a composition on the spot using the fountain pen, simultaneously listening to melodies from the piano.”
