The results were announced on Wednesday at the Grand Hyatt Macau where Miele held a gala dinner attended by over 350 guest including many of the foremost restaurateurs and chefs from the region.

“Miele is very proud to be extending our support to The Miele Guide for the third consecutive year,” said Mario Miranda, Managing Director of Miele Pte Ltd. “We believe that the guide is an extremely worthy endeavour towards cultivating excellence and encouraging innovation in the region’s dining scene which perfectly reflects Miele’s commitment towards supporting the food and beverage industry.”

“We are always very dedicated to promoting the enjoyment and understanding of good food among the people of Asia, as we realise that the same customers who look for the very best in their kitchens also expect the very best when they dine out.”

Over 21,000 registered voters from 98 countries cast over 101,000 votes towards the final results. They chose from a shortlist of 914 restaurants selected by a panel of 77 highly respected restaurant critics and food writers operating in Asia.

Hong Kong had the most number of restaurants in the Top 20 with six establishments: L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon, Zuma, Caprice, Yung Kee, Nobu and Bo Innovation, while Japan still has the highest number of restaurants in the guide with 56 entries.

Cilantro, which has long been Malaysia’s restaurant to watch, finally makes its debut on the Top 20 list as does Dum Pukht from India.
