The whirlwind romance of singer Mariah Carey and Australian billionaire businessman James Packer does not appear to be ending anytime soon. The singer, who is notable for her 2005 best-selling album The Emancipation of Mimi and hit RnB song “We Belong Together”, first met the Australian businessman in Aspen, Colorado. According to Forbes, Packer currently ranks at #6 on the list for Forbes’ 50 Richest People in Australia with a current net worth of US$3.8 billion. The couple made their first red carpet appearance together at The Intern premier last September.
Now, following their recent engagement in January, the couple have moved into the swanky hilltop mansion, which is part of an ultra-exclusive, super posh gated community The Oaks in Calabasas, Los Angeles. The gorgeous 18,000 square feet mansion, which the couple are renting for a quarter of a million dollars per month, sits on one hectares of property. High profile neighbors reportedly include the Kardashians, Britney Spears and Will Smith, among others.
The sprawling estate sits just on the edge of the cliff, overlooking a large valley and boasts a full-sized basketball court, a swimming pool, an assortment of palm trees for that tropical vibe and plenty of backyard space to frolic amidst nature, which is just steps away in an endlessly panoramic view. The pool features a mini waterfall with a hidden enclave for some momentary seclusion and tranquility.
The interior is just as posh, with a formal dining room, complete with great ambiance featuring lavishly potted plants, a chandelier and a large abstract painting. A private theatre ensures plenty of privacy without compromising the quintessential cinematic experience and comfortably fits 10 with authentic cinema-like chairs. In one bedroom, a four-poster bed sits on a lavish carpet, away from the lounge area and fireplace.
This gorgeous mansion, with its endless hallways and seemingly uncountable rooms, was a custom built project by its original owners and took five years to complete. The couple, who signed a lease to rent the property, can choose to buy the property at the end of their lease.
