Hudson, New York’s first whiskey distilled since prohibition was repealed has a lot to celebrate this year. Not only is it celebrating its 10th year anniversary since its spirits first flowed from the small stills of the Tuthilltown Distillery in 2005, it is also revelling in its top medal wins at the recent San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Gold medals were awarded to the Hudson Baby Bourbon, and Hudson Maple Cask Rye. Meanwhile the Hudson Four Grain Bourbon and the Hudson Manhattan Rye won silver medals.

The annual San Francisco World Spirits Competition, launched in 2000, is one of the largest and most influential spirits competitions in America. Judged by a panel of 41 nationally recognized spirits experts, this year’s competition broke all previous records with more than 1,500 entrants.

“We are so excited to have won gold and silver medals at this year’s San Francisco World Spirits Competition. When we decided to build our own distillery in 2003, with absolutely no prior distilling experience, we couldn’t have imagined how much of a success it would be. We are so grateful to receive recognition from such a respected judging panel.” said Hudson co-founder, Ralph Erenzo.

From humble beginnings, Hudson whiskey has come a long way and it’s being noticed by whiskey experts and enthusiasts (and us), winning the coveted Master at the 2014 World Whisky Masters for Manhattan Rye, ‘Spirit of the Year’ by Wine Enthusiast Wine Star Nominees, and 50 titles and accolades since 2008, including 4 Gold Medals at the Craft Spirits International Competition.
