In typical Gucci fashion, they have captured our hearts with the release of the sexy Nouveau Bag, taking inspiration from iconic signature elements of the brand but with a chic new twist.
Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini was inspired by the Art Nouveau movement for the Spring/Summer 2014 line. Elegant handbags featuring fringing and tassels with embellishments, with a focus on Gucci’s iconic bamboo symbol.
The Gucci Nouveau shoulder bag perfectly underlines the inspiration that went into crafting the SS14 line. Feauring tassels that will add fluidity and movement to any outfit, the bag comes in gorgeous shapes of bright red, deep berry and black in an array of materials like leather, suede and exotic skins. For day to day, or for the the evening, the Gucci Nouveau is one of Spring’s must-have It bags.
Lacquered bamboo ornaments in dark treatments and a dry stone embossed trademark add extra chic to the bag. Try it in suede cachemire (printed calfskin leather with a silk-sheen suede look) and laminated python for something particularly eye-catching. Each bag is unique and meticulously handcrafted – it took Gucci artisans two days to produce one bag.
Although this is a new item and Giannini took inspiration from a flap shoulder model from the 1940 archives, highlighting the creativity and ability of the talented creative director to create new twists on classics.
