Gucci presents a sixties-inspired collection that exudes the effortless la dolce vita sensibilities of the Florentine house. The Italian label’s mastery of leather featured prominently in the collection with slim sartorial pants in supple leather; nappa button down shirts; buttery soft leather biker and bomber jackets; as well as leather accents on the lapels of blazers and coats and the trimming of velvet evening suits.
Gucci’s expertise with materials was also evident in its innovative combination of Casentino wool with neoprene lining and wool bonded underneath textile to create outwear that is both functional and lightweight. The colour palette of dusty pastels mimic the muted shades used in the portraits of Canadian painter (and Gucci collaborator) Kris Knight, whose work influenced that of Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini this season.
