A glorious 11th century French castle that can trace its roots back to the crusades and the exploits of Richard the Lionheart has been put on the market.
Since 1946 the French government has classified the Chateau de Montbrun as a protected monument and apart from the tower which was rebuilt during the 15th century, the last major revamp occurred in the mid-1960s.
The castle changed hands between France and England during the hundred years war, yet despite its obvious age and history, the interior offers some fairly contemporary features such as a cinema room, billiard room, 15 guest rooms, library, music room, office space and staffing quarters.
Located in the Liomousin region in Haute-Vienne, perhaps the most endearing feature of the $25 million property is the tavern which is also located on the grounds.
