For Peter Dundas, creative director of Emilio Pucci, the 70’s has been a consistent decade of inspiration, being of reference—sometimes more literal and other times just at a glance. Perhaps that is why the spring-summer 2015 runway show came across as so effortlessly glamorous with an outing of beachy bohemian gowns, body-conscious dresses and fringe-adorned pants.
Overalls also made an appearance on the runway sans a top and looking more like a jumpsuit than a farmer’s uniform. Casting for the show included supermodel Naomi Campbell, It Girl Kendall Jenner and Mariacarla Boscono—who closed the show in a colorful silk number that draped to the floor.
It was kitschy, no question, but it had a good-humored, hot-to-trot energy that was hard to resist, probably because it did not exist elsewhere.
As Joni Mitchell, who may well be the muse of the Milanese season, once sang, “You don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone.” This time around, the Pucci designer Peter Dundas was there to remind us.
