The legendary figure of Christian Dior looms large over the latest Dior Homme winter collection. Creative Director Kris Van Assche weaved personal motifs of the original Dior Homme throughout the entire offering in a profusion of embroideries, patterns and prints.
Traditional tie polka dots suffused whole looks; an abstract rose embroidery from the couture archives is blown up on Dior’s personal pinstripes; emblems like lily of the valley appeared as trompe l’oeil, jacquard knit, or jewellery. Despite the imposing (sometimes feminine) presence of Dior, Van Assche balances it with his own penchant for utility streetwear, as casual denims and Japanese nylon jackets and parkas fill out the rest of the collection.
