There are some who eschew the dulcet rainy season and prefer to be tucked up indoors, but there is also a select few who enjoy the rainy days, and now you can bring a storm right into your living room with the Cloud.

Created by designer Richard Clarkson, who is renowned for his eccentric experimentation with lights and furniture that often result in out of this world creations, Cloud is an interactive indoor light shaped like – what else? – a cumulus cloud.

Cloud simulates a thunderstorm through light and sound, based on an external input from either a remote control or via motion sensors. It is powerd by an Arduino, which allows the lights to change and for the sounds to boom out from the cloud-shaped lamp, which contains color-changing lights, speakers, motion detection and a remote control, allowing the storm to come when you interact with it.

Built-in Bluetooth also enables you to stream some rainy day tunes from the lamp to keep you company while the storm brews. The Cloud is built on a made-to-order basis, and is available from Clarkson’s eponymous studio.
