Chopard supports the fight against aids, and was the “presenting partner” of the AIDS Solidarity Gala 2013 in Hofburg Palace. Specially for the event, Chopard created a one-of-a-kind Happy Sport chronograph. The timepiece has an 18 carat white gold bezel set with 40 rubies and on the white mother of pearl dial two Happy Diamonds are moving between the sapphire glasses together with the 18 ct white gold Red Ribbon symbol set with 11 rubies.

The Gala was abuzz some of the most vulnerable members of society. Some of the guests who attended the event include, star sopranist Anna Netrebko, ex-model Karolina Kurkova and President Clinton. Chopard donated the unique chronograph to the cause. It was auctioned off in the ceremony hall of the Viennese Hofburg. Under the direction of Dorotheum’s auction master, Mag. Rafael Schwarz, the live auction was raised in very short time to a high bid of €100,000.

President Clinton as a second bidder increased his bid from € 90,000 to €100,000. Chopard will create a similar watch for him. The total result of the auction for the Chopard AIDS Solidarity Chronograph in favour of UNAIDS and AIDS LIFE climbed therefore to the amount of €200,000.
