Pure in design, elegant in style with an understated upmarket chic to boot, the new Clifton collection of men’s watches is an homage to the Golden Fifties. Think of it as classicism meets modernity like Sinatra jazzed up with a Bublé twist. One model that stands out from this Baume & Mercier line is the Complete Calendar Moon Phase, powered by a mechanical self-winding calibre that includes the Dubois Depraz 9000 module. The watch shows day, date and month along with phases of the moon.
Whether it’s the classy polished satin-finished steel or a dapper blue sun satin-finished dial you fancy, this watch is a class act in every respect. We saw the real deal at the SIHH 2013 and every time we look at the pictures we still wish it came with a matching blue strap. Moving on, at first glance, the eye is drawn immediately to the crescent-shaped aperture on the dial to indicate moon phases. On closer inspection, the 43mm face reveals other neatly arranged elements such as the day and month display windows and a 31-date scale on the dial’s periphery. With an assured click of the triple folding clasp, a black alligator strap completes the accomplished look of this timepiece like a bow tie to the perfect tux.
