2013 British Polo Day Singapore returned for its third year for a day of modern polo and entertainment. The Singapore Polo Club hosted the equestrian event on September 28, amidst the post-F1 atmosphere in Singapore. The day-long event presented three exciting polo matches, celebrated high fashion and the British Heritage. The festivities were attended by over 600 of Singapore’s elite and most fashionably dressed individuals. Guests enjoyed a free-flowing Taittinger Champagne reception, and savored an exquisite lunch with wines selected by Justerini & Brooks.
Aside from the happenings in the Singapore Polo Club’s verandah, and the Loud Auction which raised S$17,300 for charity, the guests were treated to two exciting polo matches. Playing against the Hackett London British Exiles, the Savills Singapore Polo Club I took home the Hackett trophy.
The Land Rover Jubilee Cup saw the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Singapore Polo Club II and the Duxton Cambridge University team going head to head. After an exhilarating match, with excellent performances from both sides, Singapore Polo Club II claimed victory with a final score of 4-2.
“In a few short years British Polo Day has evolved into a fantastic platform for promoting some of the very best of Britain’s luxury brands. At the same time it celebrates the global reach of a sport that, for many, is uniquely associated with Britain and our heritage. British Polo Day itself, and the success it has achieved around the world, shows what hard work, vision, enterprise and drive can do and it was a pleasure to once again support their efforts here in Singapore” said His Excellency Anthony Phillipson, British High Commissioner to Singapore.
