Models presenting The Macallan Masters of Photography: Mario Testino Edition at The Hong Kong Maritime Museum
At an exclusive unveiling event held on December 12, at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum, The Macallan celebrated the launch of its fifth edition of the acclaimed Masters of Photography series. The latest edition of The Macallan’s Masters of Photography features the work of Mario Testino – a prolific portrait and fashion photographer. Mario was commissioned to capture the essence of The Macallan through the photographer’s lens and his own unique artistic vision.
Coral Gill, the Regional Brand Director for Asia Pacific, India and Global Travel Retail of The Macallan, and William Chan, Managing Director of Edrington Hong Kong, unveiled the commemorative limited edition collection, where the art conjoined whisky making with the artist’s interpretation of the world of The Macallan. The fifth chapter of The Macallan’s Masters of Photography also marked the first design collaboration, producing a set of 1,000 Mario Testino Editions. Each features one of the four dynamic photographs captured by Testino. The presentation box itself, inspired by the subtle elegance of the rich Asian cultural heritage, is as ravishing as the flavors of the single malt itself. The limited edition whisky is packaged in a stunning, high-gloss, black lacquered encasing, designed together with Mario Testino. Each box is individually numbered and includes an exclusive photo-archival booklet featuring a total of 20 images, with an additional hidden compartment that encloses six miniatures from each of the selected six casks.
“Whisky was the choice of drink in my country during the years I was growing up. When I was approached by The Macallan to take part in the Masters of Photography Series I decided to capture the moment when people get together to celebrate, in the atmosphere of a whisky environment – a whisky club!” commented Mario Testino.
