You’ve seen Marc-Antoine Barrois‘s designs at French Couture Week earlier this week, today we bring to you an exclusive interview with the designer himself where he shares his Top 5 fashion tips.

Q1. Your designs are described as clothes to fit your mind for chic men. Do tell us more.

My designs are unique and are indeed made for unique minds. I like my designs to be sharp, elegant and simple, most importantly with the use of high quality materials and hand craftsmanship which make my garments truly made to measure.

Q2. Tell us the story behind how you became the magnificent designer that you are.

I am from a textile family my grandfather was very elegant and i have always dreamed of a very elegant world where everyone dressed elegantly… T am a dreamer and i wanted to make the imaginations a reality and therefore I wanted to transform my dreams into this elegant reality.

Q3. Could you share with our readers something most people don’t know about you.

I love to be alone at my parents village house just being out in front of the beach looking out at the ocean. Watching the ocean is the best way for me to re-energize my imagination.

Q4. As a Couture designer for men your fans look to you for fashion inspiration and advice. What are your Top 5 Fashion Tips.

1) Never travel without a tuxedo

2) Never wear a shirtsleeve shirt, but rather it’s better wear a classic long sleeve shirt and if you are hot just fold up the sleeves.

3) If wearing a tie where it with a purpose that means something to you. Don’t just where a tie for the sake of it but wear it with the message.

4) Take off anything that you are wearing that is not useful. Simplicity and a good balance between edge and elegance is hard to find.

5) Wear what you want not what other people want you to wear.

Q5. Any addictions?

I am addicted to the things that I am not very good at doing. For example I cannot dance but i am really attracted and addicted to ballet dancing. I cannot play any classical musical instruments but I love classical music and attending musical concerts.

Q6. What do you think has brought you this far in your career.

It is not all about drawing in the world of fashion. It is not so simple and there is a difficult side to it that I am faced with all the time but because I am an extremely positive person, I choose to only see the good side of all things. When I focus on the positive side,  all things look easy, all things look hopeful and more creative energy can flow and be transformed into brilliant masterpieces which account for my success in the fashion industry.
