With more than 300 patents, 40 years of history, and some 280 stores worldwide, business- and travel-bag maker Tumi has come a long way since its American founder, Charlie Clifford, started the brand as an importer of leather goods in 1975. Clifford, however, had more ambitious plans, and Tumi soon began making its own bags, using materials such as cowhide leather imported from South America, and later, ballistic nylon.

Paying tribute to these first designs, the US-headquartered company has launched a 40th anniversary capsule collection crafted from natural full-grain American cowhide leather, as well as the military-grade ballistic nylon that has become a Tumi signature.

The collection, named 1975 after the brand’s founding year, includes business-travel essentials like the International Carry-on, the Square Duffel and the Slim Brief. Totes, cross-body bags and a backpack that can also be carried by its two top handles round off a smartly rugged collection that works equally well on home ground or overseas.
