Taj Mahal Upside Down Table

Based on the structural soundness of one of the famed seven wonders of the world, this novelty by Dutch-based designers Studio Job uses an upside down Taj Mahal as its legs. The spires of the celebrated Indian mausoleum have been lengthened a wee bit, of course, so that they touch the floor at the same point as the central dome. Otherwise, this table claims to use the same “architectural principles” as the centuries-old marvel for balance and stability.

With the white dome painted black for a stark visual punch, this is clearly a conversation-starter, and a great display item—although probably not very practical for use as a table per se: it would seem odd to serve food off something inspired by a crypt.
