Shoe Designer of the Year: Sophia Webster

There’s no doubt liking this former assistant of Nicholas Kirkwood who has made shoes more exciting this year.

In the midst of all the emerging talented designers worldwide, Sophia Webster’s fresh and feminine collection successfully snatched the market, bringing playful shoes to a new level of luxury footwear.

After debuting her Spring 2013 “Welcome to the Dollhouse” collection in September 2012, Webster was inspired by Brazil, where she found fun prints and colors. I myself think of the collection as younger version of Kirkwood’s architectural shoes as well as creating the nostalgia of sweet cotton candy.

“I like balancing elements that are pretty with something a bit tougher,” the British designer said about her idea of making shoes. It is proven by her deft creativity to combine pastel with black and white or bold colors, beads, vinyl, transparency, polkadots, and flamingos packed in a pair of colorful yet elegant shoes.

While the fame hasn’t yet faded away, she launched a handful of clutches, from bubble shape clutch with catchy speech, patterns or glittery ‘Azealia’ clutch, scallop trim colorful clutch, and printed-transparent clutch, showing her massive way to enter a wider fantasy of fashion enthusiasts.  Now you know why color blocking is so loved this year!
