Too lazy to join the crowd in town? Don’t want to get caught in traffic jams? Check with your GRC or community club for fun-filled neighbourhood countdown parties. There will be one comfortably near your home! Here are some of the larger countdown celebrations happening in neighbourhoods all over Singapore:

Youths, this is a countdown party just for you!
On Dec 31, *SCAPE will be divided into two areas: the HOT Playhouse and the ICE Playground.
Local youth performers such as Stellastory and The Summer State will be entertaining partygoers in the HOT Playhouse, together with Kimberly Chia, Sheik Haikel and the cast of the local movie Ah Boys To Men.
The ICE Playground features ice slides and sculptures in the *SCAPE Warehouse, where you can pen your new year’s resolutions with neon markers while dancing away to DJ OHAN and S.O.F’s music.

And as 2012 closes with a bang and fireworks, the dance floor will swing wide open for partygoers.
DJs Foxxxy and Inquisitive will be spinning Top 40 dance hits through the night.
As part of the annual celebration, you may also visit any of the wishing sphere stations in malls island-wide to pen your wishes for the coming year.

Countdown @ Merlion Park
Location: Marina Bay through to Bayfront & Merlion Park

All that said, if you’re not a party person and you just want to catch the fireworks, then this is the choice for you.
Bring a picnic mat, snacks, drinks and simply explore the Marina Bay area to find the perfect spot.
Hundreds of people stand around the Merlion and the Esplanade Bayfront to watch the fireworks at midnight. Do come early and chope your spot if you want a good view!
Note that a massive jam is expected from 12am to 1.30am all around this area down to Bayfront, just after the fireworks.

New Year’s Eve Gala Concert 2013
Location: School of the Arts Concert Hall

If you’d rather avoid both the raring parties and the fireworks, head down to the School of the Arts for a concert by The Philharmonic Orchestra for a new year countdown in style and classical music.
From the melodies of Johan Strauss to Respighi’s Pines of Rome, you will be spoilt for choice as the orchestra takes you from this year to a new year.
And you get a free glass of champagne, on the house!
