Nicolas Ghesquiere has created a playful story highlighting the Mask Pochettes in Louis Vuitton’s Monogram Totem collection. The inspirations behind these bright accessories came from the Louis Vuitton archives: Gaston Vuitton collected African tribal masks from his travels and these masks were displayed at the Colonial Exposition of 1931 in Paris.

Following the success of the Mask collection, Louis Vuitton has now updated its Monogram Icons: Alma, Neverfull, Pochette, Accessories and Speedy, in a fun way while highlighting the House’s craftsmanship through the richness of details: engraved studs, eyelets and small chiseled leather patches creating lucky totems. The ethnic symbols are reinterpreted in a colorful and exotic design. This collection is a fusion of mask exoticism and Monogram classicism.

Nothing was spared when it came to the materials either. Expect a monogram leather canvas, cowhide leather lining, smooth epi leather and calfskin trimmings, shiny golden brass metallic pieces and a palladium chain (for Pochette PM).

The Monogram Totem collection is now available in-stores and ranges from S$1040 to S$3200.
