I Thought I Saw A Tweed(y) Jacket

Forget the black dress, the pair of louboutins, and the Kelly bag for the moment: we are talking about the Little Black Jacket as the best thing to have landed in the ArtsScience Museum in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

Although it is an exhibition of sorts, we don’t so much talk about it as the personalities that grace the photos in this Karl Lagerfeld advent. And it is exactly this massive collision of titans – be it fashionistas, models, actors, artists – that I have made it my quest to etch their faces in my memories (being the natural sucker to gawk at celebritarian representations).

The other half is to marvel the versatility of this humble tweed jacket. Scrunched, wrapped and embellished, bringing forth the eccentricities of the celebrity in frame – they encompass what is vital to the fashion industry and its ideals – that fashion items as such are revisited again and again.

But in line with being a modest showcase to the plethora of Coco Chanel and Karls’ prowess, I am indeed honoured to have witnessed a sliver of possibilities a little black jacket can offer.

Sidenote: Be sure to pay homage to the portrait starring the high priestess of fashion Anna Wintour, right before you hunt for the free posters dished out by the staff.

The Little Black Jacket exhibition is open to the public from 9th November 2013 to 1st January 2014 at the ArtScience Museum. Admission is free.
