Liquid Glacial Table By Zaha Hadid

With legs that look like vortexes of gushing water and a translucent table top that looks like a slab of Artic ice, the Liquid Glacial Table by Zaha Hadid is one cool centerpiece.

The new designer table has all the aesthetic signatures of acclaimed architect Zaha Hadid, the maestro behind the stunning Guangzhou Opera House: sensuous, airy forms full of tension and movement. The industrial designer chic artpiece seen here is wrought from clear acrylic, and appears to be transitioning between the different states of water: liquid to solid; water to ice.

Note the deliberate contrast between the smooth, tranquil top of the table, like a glassy, still lake, and its swirling, dramatic legs, looking for all the world like eddying water draining down a spout.

The Liquid Glacial table made its debut at the opening of the new David Gill showroom in London’s Mayfair neighborhood. No word yet on pricing, but this lovely, otherworldly yet functional piece of art is certainly something we would want to be greeted with at home, after a long day at work.
