IWC recently celebrated the opening of its second boutique in Shanghai (in the IFC) and to mark the opening the brand also held a unique auction in aid of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Hosted by IWC CEO Georges Kern (who was supported by Zinedine Zidane) the event was held in the Peninsula Hotel and centred round a dinner in the Palace suite.

Over 150 guest attended and were able to place bids on the one-off timepiece up for auction – a unique Big Pilot’s Watch in white gold (below). Engraved with “SHANGHAI 2010 – UNIQUE PIECE”, the watch features a black dial and dark blue hands. The eventual winner of the auction, CEO of Daphne, Mr. Chen, was also invited to have his name engraved on the watch.
IWC is donating the entire proceeds from the auction to the “We all have to do Our Part” project established by the UNDP. The money will go towards environmental projects in Qinghai in the aftermath of the recent earthquake.

Also spotted in attendance were Zhou Xun, David Tao, Michael Wong, Janet Ma and Stephen Fung.
