Glenfiddich’s coopers and the curator of the company’s world-renowned ‘Artists in Residence’ programme, Andy Fairgrieve, worked together on a festive tribute to the “Angel’s Share” – the whisky lost each year due to evaporation. The folks from the Glenfiddich Distillery in Speyside, Scotland, have created a unique work of art in the form of a special set of angel wings featuring oak cask shavings for feathers.

“Glenfiddich was first distilled on Christmas Day 1887 by William Grant and his family after a year of hard work building the distillery. Christmas Day marks a special time for the distillery family and each year we like to get into the Christmas spirit. Last year we created a Christmas tree from Glenfiddich bottles to mark our 125th anniversary. This year we wanted to do something else to commemorate our rich history and heritage. Every bottle of Glenfiddich, no matter where you buy it in the world, was distilled and matured onsite here in Dufftown. As the whisky in our casks matures over time, a tiny percentage is lost due to evaporation. This is known as the angel’s share. The wings are our Christmas tribute to Dufftown’s lucky angels.” said Andy Fairgrieve.

The specially created wings will be on display at Glenfiddich’s Warehouse One during the festive period.
