Besides offering some highly desirable clothing and accessories, fashion retailer Club 21 also offers a bond-free merit scholarship. Launched in 2012 to celebrate its 40th anniversary, the Club 21 Scholarship supports outstanding undergraduate or graduate students in the fields of fashion, retail, service or creative industries. Club 21 has just announced Jixuan Zhou as the first recipient of its scholarship.

Jixuan, an accomplished artist, illustrator and graphic designer from Singapore, was selected from a strong and varied pool of over 180 candidates from 15 countries. Since leaving formal education over a decade ago, the young artist has exhibited in Singapore, Tokyo, London and New York. Jixuan will leave for New York this August to study Communications Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

“We are extremely excited by the response in the inaugural year of our scholarship. We received applications from many impressive individuals with great potential. Jixuan’s talent is evident, and we are honoured to be part of Jixuan’s journey as an artist and designer. We also hope that aspiring artists of all mediums and every individual who has chosen the path less travelled will be encouraged by Jixuan’s determination and focus to succeed.” said a Club 21 spokesperson.
