Bulgari plans to donate one of its Serpenti necklaces to benefit The Foundation for AIDS Research’s (amfAR), Cinema Against Aids gala that is scheduled to be held in Cannes, on May 22. The Serpenti necklace in white gold features a large single drop-shaped 13.05 carat Aquamarine stone surrounded by resplendent pavé diamonds totalling 19.12 carats. As Bulgari’s current ambassador and an amfAR Event Chairperson, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy will be wearing the Serpenti necklace until it is brought on stage to be auctioned off for charity.

The star-studded annual amfAR’s Cinema Against Aids gala is traditionally held in conjunction with the Cannes Film festival. This year, it is slated to be held at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France, and will feature a red-themed fashion show of gowns created by the world’s top designers. Many of the runway looks will be accessorized with jewelry and handbags on loan from Bulgari, though the Serpenti piece presented by Carla Bruni-Sarkozy will be the event’s main attraction.

amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, is one of the world’s leading non-profit organizations dedicated to the support of HIV research, prevention, treatment education, and the advocacy of sound AIDS-related public policy. Since 1985, amfAR has invested more than $388 million in its programs and has awarded grants to more than 3,300 research teams worldwide.
