Swiss watch manufacture Blancpain unveiled its latest Hong Kong boutique, located at 26 Russell Street, Causeway Bay, with a jubilant cocktail on September 12.

The joyous occasion was well attended by watch enthusiasts and friends of the brand; in attendance included Rita Hämmerli-Weschke, Consul General of Switzerland in Hong Kong, Kevin Rollenhagen, Managing Director of the Swatch Group (HK) Limited, Marc Junod, Vice President Head of Sales, Blancpain SA, Lionel a Marca, Vice President Head of Technical and Development Management, Blancpain SA, and Sincere Chiu, Vice President of Blancpain, Hong Kong and Macau. Music producer Chiu Tsang Hei and Hong Kong actress Linda Chung jetted in as guests of honour.

Chung commented: “Unlike the women’s watches from other brands which are usually a modified or quartz version of the gents’ watches, Blancpain’s ladies watches are tailor-made for her female supporters and are all driven by self-manufactured mechanical movements, which make all the difference! Sometimes I like to buy a watch as a gift for myself, and Blancpain is my first choice!”

Chiu, who is a watch collector himself, said, “I am particularly interested in the calibre that drives a mechanical timepiece and is extremely impressed with Blancpain’s devotion to creating its own mechanical movements for all its timepieces. It takes the Manufacture extreme capability, commitment, know-how and craftsmanship to develop and produce its own movements and Blancpain is among the very few watchmaking brands that have insisted to create its own movements. This year, Blancpain launched the eye-opening and world’s first Chinese calendar watch, the Villeret Chinese Calendar, and I am excited to be able to appreciate this piece closely and even try it on my wrist!”
