Alfred Dunhill marries the heritage of exquisite craftsmanship alongside sartorial finesse with a selection of Autumn Winter 2015 shearling outerwear. A staple in the early days of ‘Dunhill’s Motorities’ when Alfred Dunhill was supplying driving leisure apparel and protective clothing, it is still an essential item in every British gentleman’s wardrobe nearly 100 years later.

The natural insulating properties of shearling and the lavishly soft hand make this winter cover up a luxurious investment piece for the season’s cooler months. Two key styles within the Autumn Winter 2015 Alfred Dunhill collection include the rich brown car coat inspired by a 1950’s overcoat from the archive; featuring Icelandic shearling which is characterised by its irregular curl and dry touch, the fur has been removed of its topcoat to reveal the finer full length undercoat.

Other details include Italian hand braided leather ‘football buttons’ which are classic and sturdy with added texture, and large hand warming pockets. The second variation is a contemporary alternative; adopting a cocooned shape it sits just above the knee and features four military pockets, a double layered saddle leather throat strap with racing green enamel snaps inspired by the green on a 1957 Jaguar, and 1893 embossed D rings. Featuring the same Icelandic shearling in ecru, the outer skin reveals suede velour finishing in slate grey.
