3.1 Phillip Lim Resort 2015

There isn’t one aesthetic signifier that makes 3.1 Phillip Lim Resort so ’70s. The collection is, instead, like the decade’s best-of: leisure suits, safari-wear, all-day lingerie, and A-line dresses with their belts built in—a mashup so mashed-up it looks modern and not at all cliché, with lots of “odd-ball pairings”.

“I’ve been feeling very nostalgic lately,” Lim said. “I was looking at the ’70s, and what I love about the ’70s is that it had this kind of fun, free fluidity. A carefree attitude that I wish we had today.”

Feeling the era’s sexier and more body-conscious silhouettes, Philip Lim got away from the oversize outerwear he’d been playing with for the past few seasons and showed jackets that follow the body louche-ly.
